Mrs. Fred Baton a well known former resident of Corry died at Pris following a streetcar incident on North Wat Street. She jumped from the car near the Northeast stop and sustained a fatal skull fracture. The death occurred at Hamoth Hospital the next day. She is survived by her husband two sons and several children.
City crews report steady advance in Liberty Loan subscriptions as the drive nears its final push. Total tally climbs beyond $100,000 with major contributions from factories and local businesses. Committees pledge continued canvassing and daily reports to reach quota while shops close for inspections and coordination.
Washington April 5 The Senate residence registration for war service is discussed. An amendment proposes exempting from registration those who have entered well military schools. The House and Senate move toward a new universal draft, with concern over Germany's recent call of about 150000 men.
