Settlement of a two week AFL union dispute on the construction of the Penelee power plant at Starbrick appeared near. Iron Workers agent Frank Scalis said progress followed yesterday s tension when electrical workers crossed iron workers mass picket lines but no violence occurred. Jurisdictional clash between carpenters and electrical workers sparked work stoppage though some work continues in small scale.
Workers Strike Halts Work At New Plant Site
About 200 workers are on site for the new plant with around 100 on strike. Mr. Scalise believes a settlement is near in Washington in the next few days, ending the strike.
