Clarion State College president to step down in December
CLARION PA AP Dr James Gemmell president of Clarion State College since 1980 will retire December 31 at age 61 after an April board meeting. He notes that a college president is chosen to meet a need and when fulfilled it is time to move on. Under his tenure enrollment rose from 1 000 to about 2 000 and several buildings were added. He previously taught at Penn State business school.

Erie County Salary Board met yesterday and deferred a request from President Judge Edward Carney for pay hikes for three court stenographers Patricia Gorenflo Sandra Chapin and Cindy Davenport.
