Oil Shortage Impact From Abadan Strike Pinches Global Markets
The Abadan refinery strike in Iran risks global oil shortages affecting Western Europe the Mediterranean and North Africa. US production could offset losses in friendly nations but prices rise. Britain ships about 60 percent of its output west of Suez while 40 percent goes east. Iran and Saudi Arabia dominate Middle East output totaling about 14 million barrels daily. Abadan’s outage drops its refinery throughput dramatically.
