Erie Whites and Blacks Picket School Office Over Race Tensions
A few hundred residents plan to picket the Erie school administration building today and tomorrow over what they call infection and failed leadership in schools. About 300 members of the 500 Concerned Citizens of the Black and White Communities marched in heavy rain. A spokesman for 22 clergymen backing the group said the aim is to unite all people to solve racism. In the past two weeks Black students at Strong Vincent High School were suspended after a quiet walkout, and a school board meeting was canceled without explanation.
