Illinois Cities Facing Peril Of Flooding

The Mississippi flood surged through Dubuque and La Crosse with record crests. Dubuque residents fled by boat as waters rose toward 26 feet, flooding factories and homes and forcing evacuations. Wisconsin Governor Knowles commented on the disaster and Illinois faces widespread damage and evacuations as the flood swells.

Who Has It Pondering Wage Tax Authority Spars in Corry

The Combined Earned Income Tax Committee met at the Municipal Building to resolve who has power over appointing the 1 percent wage tax receiver for next year. City income tax receipts show slight quarterly dip

Marines Fight Viet Reds Near Da Nang Base

Marines clashed with Viet Cong during an eight hour patrol near Da Nang while Vietnamese bombers and Navy fighter bombers attacked targets in both North and South Vietnam.
