Sentiment grows among Board of Education members for cutting the 1940 tax levy from 201 mills to as little as one-half to one mill. Some directors say a half to full mill reduction could be made without harming curriculum. The Board meets tonight at 8:20 to tentatively approve the budget as public inspection begins for 1940-41. Final adoption is set for Friday May 24 with prior inspection and lapse periods.
