On her 90th birthday Tuesday Mrs. Irene Kistler of Spartansburg was guest of honor at an evening party in the Spartansburg Methodist Church social rooms. She remains active in church and area affairs and received numerous gifts from church and Sunday School members who sponsored the event.
Robert Nichols was honored with a birthday party Sunday afternoon at his East Pleasant Street home. Thirty five guests from Cleveland Mentor Ohio Falconer attended and he received many nice cards and a purse of money.
A collection of practical household tips and Q A style notes from Heloise readers. Suggestions cover packing suitcases storing seasonal items using fruit juice to sweeten drinks cleaning stove vents soaking grill parts and keeping toys and dust out of hot air registers.
A Corry Grange yesterday hosted a Golden Agers style show sponsored by the Grange Home Economics Committee led by Mrs. John Decker. Corry Area Golden Age Club members attended as guests with music by Mrs. Elnora Lillie and ceremonies by Mrs. Helen Gale. Mrs. Elnora Lillie provided photos by McMichael.
Dr. J. Guy Butters spoke on New Drugs and Their Effects to YMCA Auxiliary members on Monday evening. Officers elected include Mrs. Robert Galbreath as president and Mrs. Ernest Thacker as vice treasurer.
Erory Reck led the Kiwanis Club dinner at the Hotel Corry. James St George reported on the Guys and Dolls card party at Moose Lodge chaired by William Donaldson. A good sum was raised for Kiwanis charity projects. Embert Earle introduced Mrs James Thompson who spoke on the Corry Public Library during National Library Week.
Mrs. James Thompson librarian of Corry Public Library addressed the Rotary Club dinner at the Hotel Corry Tuesday evening. Introduced by Richard Pulling she spoke on the local library and National Library Week observances. Dr. Elmer Ortner gave a prayer, Rev. Louis Hewitt offered the blessing, with J. Donald Watson as song leader and Glenn Middleton at the piano.
The Columbus Elementary School PTA met Tuesday evening at the school. Mrs. Donald Chase opened with devotions and the flag salute. It was voted to accept the revised bylaws. The room count award went to Mrs. Bensink's third grade, and Mrs. Mary Kusma was named chairman of the upcoming sixth grade party.
Robert Perkins arrives Sunday from a 15 month Pakistan tour to spend a 30 day leave with parents at 414 East Smith Street before reporting to Kelly AFB in Texas. Auxiliary events include a spring card party May 9 at Erie County Hospital to aid patient needs with desserts at 7:30 p.m. and a style show by Teens and Queens.
