Two Children Die in Lnesville Fire Tragedy
In Lnesville on April 21 two Powers children Nancy Carol three and Darelene six perished when a shack used as a play hideout burned. Brother Tom eleven suffered serious burns while trying to rescue them as flames trapped the youngsters near Pymatuning Barn west of Meadville.

Fifteen Erie Boys Held for Forest Park Vandalism
Fifteen boys aged 12 to 15 were arrested on vandalism charges after about 2000 in damages to several cottages in Erie Forest Park. Police say they shot at panes and mirrors and dumped paint in Millcreek township beach cottages. Clarence Gerbracht reported incidents to authorities on April 15.

Short Change Artists Arrested in Erie Robbery Plot
Three Buffalo men with long police records were arrested in Erie after attempting the short change racket on two merchants. Each posted 500 bond and await larceny by trick hearing at 11 a.m. Wednesday before Alderman Edwin Bowes. Suspects Lamar Keaton, Arthur Dawesferdale, and John Muckidberry faced Det. Sgt. Don McGurdy and Patrolman Pred Kaeberlein after leaving John’s Food Market with a 10 bill and fake change request.
