United Press reports pneumonia remains a grave threat in Pittsburgh despite scientific progress. Of 97 cases in three months of 1936, 42 died, while 2380 cases and 870 deaths occurred in 1935. Mellon Institute director Dr. E R Weldlein notes optimism. a serum developed under Dr R R Mellon and tested in 26 clinics shows high effectiveness in many cases.
Ottawa April 21 The 10 Mennonite families now in Mexico, a colony once in Manitoba, request entry to Canada to settle on Quebec farms. They oppose compulsory education and live communally, but face likely Quebec objections and possible Dominion government refusal.
