Severe blazes devastate towns, with Tipler and other communities reporting extensive damage and multiple fatalities as crews combat the flames. In Syracuse a man and three children die in a family tragedy.
United Press reports Honduran rebels seized Pimiento and move toward San Pedro Sula as U S warships sail to Honduran ports. Government troops clash with insurgents along the northern coast, claiming victories at Progreso and near Sabi, while Ceiba and Progresa change hands amid heavy fighting and casualties among rebels.
Paris Apr 20 Former King Alfonso of Spain will leave Paris at noon Tuesday for London to confer with bankers at the Hotel Meurice where the royal family is living. He will return to rejoin the queen in Paris later. The municipal president said no effort would be made to persuade him to stay and no restrictions beyond those for political exiles would be imposed.
A large woods fire reported between Spartansburg and Tucker's Corners northeast of Spartansburg burned a substantial area by Sunday morning. Residents said the blaze was under control later Sunday but kept under watch to prevent further spread as no nearby farms faced immediate danger.

In Hupeh Province near King-Chow three Scandinavian Alliance Mission members Esther Nordlund Chicago Augusta Nelson and Oscar Anderson were captured by a Communist bandit band. They followed the ransoming of Minnesota missionary Godfrey Lindholm who was freed after $2,500 paid by the U.S. delegation. In Hankow Reverend KN Tyedl from St Paul was released and reunited with his family. another Lutheran missionary Bert Nelson remained in captivity amid government efforts to free the captive group.
Mic Jackson reports a fire at one of Michigan state prison farms near Jackson. Prison officials say inmates fought the blaze for three hours, no escape attempt occurred. The grass fire started the blaze. fire engines from Jackson aided in saving two large dwellings. State police from Lansing Tecumseh and Jackson posted a cordon, sixty officers watched the scene.
New York April 20 Mayor James Walker prepared a reply to charges from the National Republican Club city affairs committee alleging political motives and private life issues. While the mayor corrected proofs, Governor Roosevelt faced calls for his removal as the club urged action.
