Erie Police Capture Local Shooter Tongph Klomek

Erie police chief Chist Davin arrested Tongph Klomek, a wanted assailant. Klomek texted plans after a March incident at Anchor Line where he shot John Willizoakl, wounding him in the mouth. He traveled to Erie, was found in Shady Avenue, and placed in custody as Detective Helsler prepared to board the afternoon train.

Commission Passes Smith and Park Place Ordinances

The city commission approved bills to pave Smith from Wright to Center Streets and Park Place from Center to Maple Avenue, with the mayor opposing the paving measures. A $9,500 bond issue to cover a portion of the paving received majority approval, while related ordinances 949 and 990 were posted for reading. Johnson damage suit to be heard in county court

The $10,000 damage action against the Brie railroad by H R Johnson of Corry to recover for the death of his father Thomas Jefferson Johnson is slated for the county courts soon. Johnson Sr. was struck by Erie train No 8 in front of the passenger station and died at Corry Hospital two weeks later. Attorney P Rogers Jr leads the suit with Peake and Smith assisting as work continues on witnesses and local contacts. The case is expected to be heard shortly and an operation is planned for Mr Rogers and his team.

Swiss Complaint Filed Over Neutral Shipments

Washington April 20 United Press reports Swiss Foreign Minister Hitter visited the State Department to discuss hindrances to American cotton shipments routed through Italy. The issue marks Switzerland’s first stated complaint and may complicate U S allied relations and neutral shipments amid wartime tensions.

Harrisburg April 20 The Vickerman Home Rule bill passed the House by a decisive margin to strip the Public Service Commission of power to regulate city and borough contracts with utilities. Small wreck on the Penny near Vachure causes delays

A freight wreck occurred on the Penny near Vachure on Point last night. A freight car left the rails and nine cars piled up before the train was stopped. No injuries reported, but traffic was delayed as train 64 detoured via Lake Shore to Erie and then the Pittsburgh division to this city.

Marooned Turkish Fleet Stranded in Black Sea

Dispatches from Salon indicate the Turkish fleet is trapped in the Black Sea after a raid, with coal gone and mine-sweeping unavailable. Two Turkish destroyers were lost near the straits. British patrol crews are lauded for preventing a submarine capture and for destroying it with torpedoes.
