Great Awakening and Edwards Revival in New England
A bicentennial feature recalls Jonathan Edwards' 1727 move to Northampton Massachusetts to assist his grandfather and his later ministry, which spurred the Great Awakening. By 1741 his Enfield sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God marked the peak of revival, with many converts and renewed church engagement across New England. The piece also notes Edwards's Personal Narrative and reflections on salvation and Christ’s kingdom, alongside local notices about a tureen dinner, town meeting, memorials, and new agents.
