John Denny Bayer Gannon College head basketball coach will headline the 1967 Sparta Athletic Banquet at the high school gym Saturday at 7 30 p m. Bayer coached a rebuilding year into a winning season and was named Coach of the Year by Erie’s Support Our Sports Club, edging Buzz Riddle of Westminster College. The event honors basketball and baseball players with a best player award and awards the Ralph McAninch trophy for scholar-athletes.
