Pittsburgh Grand Jury Gets Rackets Evidence
A Pittsburgh grand jury is to receive evidence on bribery and extortion charges against former Assistant Police Superintendent Lawrence J. Maloney and seven others linked to a numbers racket protection scheme. The eight, including Pittsburgh police officers and a former patrolman, face counts of conspiracy and alleged cash for protection. A related habeas corpus petition hearings are set for April 26 for several defendants.
