The Colonel Drake Hotel in Titusville goes to bid under trustee Rowland B. Mahany to liquidate bankruptcy claims. Sealed offers are due by 10 am June 2. Funds from sale will satisfy hotel debts. Local police cite two motorists after a Route 6 bypass collision.

In Harrisburg a group of twelve state senators backed a plan to elect the first Commonwealth Court judges rather than appointing them. The bill aims to ensure minority party representation with a seven member court elected from eight candidates, four from one party and three from the other, on the November ballot.
In Juneau Alaska Mike Miller a candidate for the borough assembly received a notable endorsement after the Southeast Alaska Empire ran an ad praising him for fixing his wife’s kitchen cabinets. The notice says the support came from friends of Mrs. Mike Miller who had withheld public backing until the repairs were completed.
A tractor trailer and a Line Mountain area school bus collided two miles north of Harrisburg. Thirty children were hurt but none seriously. The bus reportedly rolled onto its side. several were hospitalized. A separate report from Harrisburg notes Coleman Co. plans to close its Somerset plant after a two month strike, amid right to work criticism. About 400 United Steelworkers walked out February 14. Coleman makes camping equipment.
