Matinee Theater Ends After NBC TV Run

Despite high production quality and awards, sponsorship dropped from 15 of 20 periods to 7, and Nielsen ratings slid from summer peaks. The program offered 600 plus productions, 5,000 actors, and may yield two half hour operas to replace it as TV dramas evolve.
