It aims to abolish hundreds of borough and township collectors, with duties shifted to county treasurers to save about 1.7 million dollars annually. The bill, once defeated in 1985, gained Gov. Barle’s support as a cost-saving reform, though many collectors would still serve out four-year terms before any savings materialize.
