Nixon frees 415 million school aid and disaster funds
The Nixon administration will release all impounded impact aid to about 4,650 school districts near federal installations, plus 68 million in disaster aid for Tropical Storm Agnes relief. Allocations will follow last year’s formula with full entitlement for high shares of children of federal employees and varying percentages for other districts. The move expands aid beyond Category A and B distinctions, affecting districts nationwide. A Pittsburgh discrimination suit against the University of Pittsburgh was sent back to district court for further determination, with plaintiff Ina Braden alleging unequal pay and limited advancement for women.
