FDA recalls frozen strawberries and cornmeal for aflatoxin
The FDA recalls over 35,000 pounds of sliced frozen strawberries from Pacific Frozen Foods after a Mead, Washington consumer cut her mouth on glass slivers. About 15,000 pounds were embargoed at the manufacturer's warehouse. Separate aflatoxin contamination prompts recall of 15,590 pounds of enriched white cornmeal from Dittinger Roller Mills in New Braunfels, Texas, with distributions to Sequin Milling Co. and others. Aflatoxin, a cancer risk in some animals, occurs in moldy nuts, corn and oil seeds under certain conditions.
