Nixon learns mixed reception in Michigan campaign
In Bad Axe Michigan President Nixon drew a friendly welcome amid signs opposing him with calls for impeachment. Despite a strong 8th District stop and a 57 mile motorcade through the Thumb area, viewers say the reception is unlikely to swing Tuesday’s special congressional race between James Sparling and J. Robert Traxler. Local GOP chair William McLaughlin claimed Nixon could turn the tide if victorious. Nixon criticized Congress over energy goals and praised Sparling, a former White House aide, while voters weighed his overall impact. Also included are Pennsylvania lottery results with the Lucky 7 and Baker's Dozen drawings.
