Corry man charged with furnishing liquor to minors in local case

A Corry man was jailed and charged after police traced purchases of wine for teenagers. Buddy D. Jackson, 27, bought wine for a 16 year old and whiskey for an 11 year old, prompting an arrest warrant from Chief Harley Dike. An alderman hearing was scheduled this afternoon.

Elton Simmons Dies Longtime Corry Loan Director

Elton Simmons long time Corry Savings and Loan Association president and 28 year member died yesterday afternoon after a brief illness. Born March 29, 1872 in Wayne Township he also served as school director road commissioner and Pine Grove Cemetery Association member. He survived by his wife a daughter Mrs Herbert B. Gulick of Conneaut eight grandchildren eight great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled Thursday at 2 PM at the Brook on Funeral Home with interment at Pine Grove Cemetery.

Sabotage Suspected in Dara Ship Disaster

London AP reports a Bahrain Times correspondent aboard the Dara believes saboteurs may have caused the disaster that killed about 212. Survivors suggest Oman rebels might have planted a cabin bomb aboard the 5030-ton liner off the Oman coast near the Anshim Peninsula. Early Saturday fire swept the vessel. Also circulating in London are rumors President Kennedy and Mrs Kennedy will visit London June 5.

The Public Utility Commission approved Wattsburg Telephone Co of Erie County to borrow 325000 from the Rural Electrification Administration at 2 percent interest.
