Will of Uk Warner in Surrogate Court Reveals Fatal Nickel Plate Death
The will of Uk Warner of Silver Creek was filed for probate after his wife Deene Warner was fatally injured in an attack at a Nickel Plate tower in March 1946. Leo Mleczko, Dunkirk, was convicted of murder and sentenced to life. The will, dated March 10, 1943, named Smith E. Warner as beneficiary, with two daughters set to share the estate due to posthumous births. Special guardian Raymond J. Bartkowisk was appointed for the daughters, Ellen Haensly and Barbara Warner of Silver Creek.

Jamestown residents were shocked when Leo H Swanson 46 died after a fall down basement stairs in his home. Coroner Samuel T Bowers ruled the death accidental, noting a small skull fracture and transport by Jamestown Ambulance Service to W A Hospital. A Spring Creek Township school budget adopted April 29 1947 may be seen at the secretary home.

Car Rolls Over Three Times Two Men Escape
Willis Treas and Franke Reynolds, both employed by Clifford Whinke, narrowly escaped death when their Ford left the road between Denry and Kimball Stand, rolled over three times and ended upside down. Deputy Sheriff Moore said both men sustained only head lacerations as they were taken to a local physician. Ambulance service was not needed.

Erie child dies after being struck by ball at street crossing
Rita Ann Grebs eight-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs Chester H Grebs died in Erie Hospital after a baseball struck her near 2 20 pm while crossing the street at 3rd and German streets. Police say she ran into the path of the ball as two boys played catch. Her body was taken home by patrolmen before being rushed to Hamot Hospital where she died at 9 86 last evening.
