Erie Railroad to Improve Roadbed West of Corry

Thousands of dollars will be spent by the Erie Railroad to improve the roadbed west of Corry. A crew of eighty men under supervision began work between the junction in West End yards and the overhead crossing near Lovell Station. Completion is expected in about fourteen weeks. The project follows prior upgrades two years ago and aims to speed both freight and passenger schedules, with plans for greater competition in cross country service.

New Plumbing Firm Takes Over Stewart Store

Kinney Spiesman and Waller have purchased the stock and equipment of Charles M Stewart and Germany and will take over the store at Kase Main and Mill streets. Stewart retires. The firm of Walter Kinney Milan Waller and Franke and William Spielman, formerly with Birlow Hardware, aims to expand and improve the plumbing shop. Donald Stewart, a radio dealer, will move into the former store room east of the shop and the front will be rebuilt to upgrade the building as a top radio and plumbing center.
