Hunters Aroused Over Doe Season Legislation
MAYVILLE April 10 Hunters protested the Senate failure to pass bills by Assemblymen Magnuson and Tift legalizing a Doe season. Clinton Ed Watson of the Chautauqua County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs warned it could decimate deer herds and enable hunting ducks during the same period. If vetoed the Tift bill would end deer season in the Southern Tier, harming farmers. The measures end the doe lottery and set a November 24 to 30 season in Chautauqua County.
