London April 9 Sir John Simon Foreign Secretary disclosed Germany seeks a large military build up including 36 divisions and 550000 troops plus 35 percent of Britain's naval tonnage and parity with Britain and France. He said Germany favors a Locarno air pact and would leave the League if treated as inferior. Simon noted Berlin demands restoration of colonies taken after World War I.
Williemt J. Spang of Duquesne predicts a nationwide steel strike will spread to rubber aluminum automobile textile and coal mining. Spang, ousted union leader, says the 60th Amalgamated convention in Pittsburgh April 23 will formalize a concerted national strike with support from rank and file workers.
