Loves Will Rebuild the Elgin Dam
This morning John Love led a crew to Higin to reconstruct the dam washed out March 25. The Bracken mill, idle since the flood, is badly damaged and not expected to operate until late month. The dam will be heavy timber and earth built, likely completed in about two weeks, as rubbish blocked the inlet and outlet channels during the flood. Tonight the Chamber of Commerce meets in Common Council rooms to elect a president after a term without one, with high attendance hoped for to discuss organizational matters.
