Whitney book says MacArthur cleared of Yalta concessions
Maj. Gen. Courtney Whitney rejected Morton’s claim that MacArthur advised concessions to the Soviet Union at Yalta. Whitney’s statement insists no competent evidence supports that view, urging that the Forrestal diary and Whitney’s own account offer no proof of such influence on wartime policy. The dispute centers on a book excerpt and a Reporter magazine essay quoting Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney.
