RR Snags Stall Bypass Project At Youngsville
Warren rail negotiations halt the Youngsville bypass. W A Bryan of the State Highway Department says the contract is not yet awarded pending agreements with the Pennsylvania and New York Central railroads. Bids opened February 24, with a 60 day window to award or rebid. The project, 5.89 miles of divided highway, targets 20 000 cars daily. NYC seeks to use Pennsylvania tracks first.

Leak In Dike Forces Port Erie To Delay Flights
ERIE Pa AP flood water from the Old Erie Canal forced the Port of Erie Airport to cancel 15 flights for 12 hours. Four to eight inches of water covered an intersection of two runways when runoff from heavy rain breached a nearby dike about 300 yards from the runways. Airport superintendent William McCleary said a property owner who bought land near the airport opened the hole a month ago to drain the canal and agreed to plug it until a drainage system is finished.
