McClellan’s voting record on energy bills through 1953
McClellan and three of his special investigating committee backed the natural gas bill vetoed by Eisenhower for heavy lobbying. Earlier he supported the Kerr Thomas natural gas bill vetoed by Truman, and the price basing point bill also vetoed. In 1952 he backed the offshore oil bill vetoed by Truman, then in 1953 voted against federal leasing of offshore oil land but later supported the offshore oil bill signed by Eisenhower. He also voted to sell government rubber plants and to divert revenues from the continental shelf to education.

Old Letter Supports Erie Airport’s Current Site
A letter from Albert H. Wessel, former district airport engineer, argues Erie’s present Port Erie site can be enlarged to meet future air traffic needs. The view is echoed by Pennsylvania Aeronautics Commission and Michael Baker Associates, with the CAA backing, and Vincent Cassaro’s November endorsement, noting no justification for a larger airport. The News-Herald will be delivered to Blizzard subscribers.
