Trout stocking nears as trout season opens in PA
The 1948 Pennsylvania trout season nears with stock to be completed by April 9. Heavy river water delayed work by two days, but 900 rock trout at Coffee Creek and 700 brown trout at Caldwell Creek lead tomorrow’s stocking plan alongside 690 brown trout at St Hlukory. Also, PIAA finals loom in basketball with Ford City and Norristown in Class A and B finals, while Irwin and Bridgeport vie for titles in WPIAL action. Harness racing opens at Santa Anita with a $600,000 purse, featuring the Pasadena Pace and top runners Diplomat, Brother Harmony, and Scottish.
