J Carnes Wins First in Corn Contest
Out of more than 60 exhibitors of corn at the Batley State bank last Saturday, C J Carnes a farmer southwest of town carried off the first prize for a gold medal. Peter Marder took third prize, and Brube was the runner up for second. The Bailey State bank offered three prizes for the best single ear of corn, but little interest arose. Farmers in this section showed excellent corn despite variable yield and quality. A testimonial from Ive Smith of Point Blank Texas says Chamberlain's Tablets cured his liver complaint.
