Tidelands Bill May Pass Next Week
Council heard from Archibald Abel that the Coronado tidelands bill faces no opposition at the State Capitol and is expected to pass this month. Assemblyman Stanley indicated the bill will be favorably recommended with an amendment allowing tidelands use for residences or recreation in addition to wharves and utilities. Marine Veteran Dies By His Own Hand Here Monday
Hascal L. Ewton fourty three year old Marine Corps warrant gunner with twenty years service killed himself in the bedroom of his home at 181 Orange Avenue Monday morning using a .45 caliber automatic revolver. Police Chief J W Jordan and Deputy Coroner A B Gallagher said Ewton was despondent after his request for a week’s leave of absence from the Naval Air Station was rejected, according to his wife Mrs Para Lee Ewton who was home when he killed himself.

Carriers Move Adm. Salada to North Island
The aircraft carriers Boxer Valley Forge and Bairoko will transport Vice Admiral H. B. Salada commander of Air Pacific and his staff from Pearl Harbor to North Island. Bairoko begins loading April 5 with Valley Forge finishing by May 1. Upon arrival the staff will absorb duties of Fleet Air West Coast.

Youth Benefit Dance Rings Bell at Hotel del Coronado
