Gala Scout Carnival Set For July 2nd

Coronado plans a July 2 carnival with a top prize a luxury television set funded by local business leaders. Prize foreman Louis A. Dean notes the set will be delivered ready to operate at winners home. Milton Silverman promises airplanes and a train as part of new amusements along with a secret big surprise. The event features street dancing, balloon man, candy spins, cigarette girls, quick sketch artists, and six Monty Lewis students to draw portraits.

South Bay Bus Plan Dies After Utilities Commission Meeting

Coronado officials and San Diego Transit System at a Chamber of Commerce meeting faced a setback as the Public Utilities Commission confirmed the South Bay route would lose money. The 12 daily round trips at 40 cents per mile would bring in only ten cents per mile, delaying direct South Bay service until population and revenue rise.

Flagpole Dedication At Coronado Youth Center Honors Captain Coxe

Learn to Swim Program Set to Begin at Crown Pool

The Onado Recreation Department announces a five day per week Learn to Swim course at Crown Pool starting Monday. Free lessons for children seven and up with no charge to participate. Walter Lowe and Miss Virginia are instructors. Registration at Crown Pool or through city life-guard offices.

Two Boys Return To School With A Vengeance

Two Coronado boys aged 11 and 12 were taken to the Anthony Home after setting a fire in the Elementary and Junior High School and committing mischief in the building. Firefighters extinguished a closet fire causing $60 damage. further damage totaled $200 from broken doors and ransacked offices and desks.

Four Coronado Homes Entered In Weekend Burglaries

Four Coronado residences were ransacked with minimal property loss this past weekend. Targets included Jennings Brown at 1901 Monterey Ellen Collier at 1211 Sixth Street Edward Bailey at 1516 Fifth Street and Mrs Florence Matthews at 1425 Seventh Street. Police report Rafael Pelayo de Anda is in custody on a petty theft charge for allegedly stealing 300 dollars worth of clothes from Manuel Perez and Dimas Gomez at the Devon Hotel last Sunday evening.
