Robert A Nordblom purchaser of Hotel del Coronado and Spreckels lands is in New York this week. He is planned to arrive here by plane next week, with Spreckels holdings and Coronado lands set as the first West Coast purchases. A bond issue vote will be held soon to buy the lands.

Kiddies Matinee Returns at Coronado Theatre

Coronado Theatre reinstates weekly Saturday Kiddies Matinee at 1 p.m. doors open 12:30. This week features Wagon Wheels Westward with Red Ryder, two cartoons, a 3 Stooge s comedy, a short on animals, and the first chapter of a new serial. Last chapter of Jack Armstrong shown at Village Theatre. Cowpokes will be frisked for weapons. police warn not to ride horses on sidewalks.

Internal Revenue Officer to Visit Coronado City Hall

The Division of the Office of Internal Revenue will station a Deputy Collector at Coronado City Hall for February 26 and 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The officer will assist taxpayers with information and help in filling out Income Tax Forms.

Ferry Slip Repairs Complete. Four-Boat Service Restored

Four-boat ferry service resumed during peak hours 3 30 to 6 p m after repairs to the westerly inside dolphin. Work on driving 20 piles finished at 3 a m yesterday. Crews ran 24 hours daily since 7 p m last Friday to finish prompt. Three ferries used, with one at the San Diego side and two at the Coronado side.

First Annual Father and Son Dinner Planned at Coronado

The Boy Scouts announce the first annual Father and Son Dinner at Coronado Junior High School Auditorium on February 13. Tickets are on sale to Scouts and fathers with proceeds and unsold tickets due by February 11. Scoutmasters must submit lists by February 7 of boys without fathers or with unable-to-attend fathers so clubs can provide alternate father figures.

Local store owner gets insurance payout after San Diego hold up

M. O. Ferguson, owner of Ferguson's markets in Coronado and San Diego, received a check for 4196.37 from Strand Realty Company within 24 hours of a Sunday night hold up at the El Cajon Boulevard store. Robbers escaped with more than 3000 in cash and 1100 in checks. Ferguson operates additional San Diego markets and a Coronado store at 926 Orange Avenue.

Terry Property Dispute Highlights Council Meetings

Rev R Hylton Sanders told the Tuesday council session the Methodist Church may buy the Terry Estate lot at 7th and A and move a 30 room house to Olive Avenue at 7th and D regardless of a variance. Protests from nearby property owners clashed with church officials for the second consecutive week as the issue was kept in abeyance with two councilmen absent due to illness.

Phillip's Men’s Wear Shop Becomes Own by Former Manager

Phillip Gerson, former co owner of Brody's Men's Wear, has taken full ownership of the Orange Ave shop and renamed it Phillip's Men’s Wear. He vows to keep the same policy and carry the same line of nationally advertised men’s clothing and sportswear. Gerson, a World War II naval veteran and Coronado resident by marriage to Doreen Brody, joined the store at opening and just returned from Los Angeles with new sportswear lines to be placed on sale soon.

Public Invited To Art School Lecture Tomorrow
