Amos B E Schaefer longtime Coronado High School principal is appointed superintendent of schools to begin July 1 and will remain as high school principal. He helped found the Coronado Forum and served in the Army education corps in World War II. He holds a master’s in education and an administrator’s credential from Stanford. He is active in Rotary VFW Recreation Commission and the Chamber of Commerce.

Carl Ince Leases Market Site for New Coronado HQ
Carl Ince leased the 960 Orange Avenue premises, formerly Bowman's Crown City Market, to house his Coronado Radio and Electric Store. He plans converting 937 Orange Avenue into a 20 machine self laundry and aims to open both new stores by June 1. The 952 Orange Avenue site may become a four lane bowling alley next month.

Career Week Tops Business Women's Meeting
The Business and Professional Women's Club held Career Week talks at Mrs Rose home led by Ma Forney principal of Elementary Junior High. Coronado Ferry Traffic Diverted During Peak Hours
Police Chief J W Jordan announced a traffic plan to divert Coronado ferry traffic in the 4 to 5 pm period starting next Monday. San Diego bound ferries will travel east on Second Street to C Avenue, north to First Street, and to the ferry entrance. The route is temporary to relieve congestion, based on a study committee led by Councilman E G Stanley and approved by the City Council.

Ladies Night Proves A Hit For Coronado Kiwanis Club
The Coronado Kiwanis Club reports a near full house at the Hotel del Coronado for the annual Ladies Night and Anniversary Party held Tuesday night. Dr. Alex G. Nichols of Santa Ana and Dr. I. Lester Furnas of La Jolla helped lead the banquet program before dancing in the Terrace Room. A Kiwanis round table luncheon followed yesterday at La Avenida Cafe in place of a regular meeting.

Rear Admiral George F. Neal retired USN was unanimously elected mayor of Coronado by the council at a crowded meeting. He plans a term not to exceed six months while taking office in place of Archibald Abel who resigned. New council members Arthur Chytrus and Melbourne McHever were sworn in.

Coronado Tops County In Safety Campaign 1948 First Quarter
Coronado led the inter city traffic safety contest for the first quarter of 1948 with only three traffic injuries, a .2 percent lead over six other county cities. The San Diego Police Traffic Safety office calculated standings from reports by police chiefs of La Mesa Chula Vista El Cajon Escondido Oceanside San Diego and Coronado. Oceanside followed with 17 injuries and Coronado recorded its first traffic death at the start of the second quarter.
Mrs Hurst Reflects On Retirement From City Council
