In Albany and Salem Oregon a posse led by Officers Christopherson and Long of Portland shot escaped convict Otto Hooker hiding under a house. Hooker died at Albany hospital around 2 am after being struck through the lung and shoulder. Over 200 men searched between Salem and Albany as the manhunt continued for a bandit who killed Warden Harry Minto and wounded City Marshal J J Benson.
