Monday marked the first day of school under supervising principal Dr. M Victor Staley as teachers welcomed students. Total city enrollment reached 864, up 126 from last year with gains at the high school 25 more, Washington 46 more, and Lincoln 55 more. High school reports 62 boys and 73 girls. Washington 170 boys and 162 girls. Lincoln 191 boys and 163 girls. Kindergarten totals include five boys and eight girls at the high level and 14 boys with 16 girls at Lincoln, with overall counts 345 and 384 respectively.
