Petrograd dispatch reports the battle of Rawa, 32 miles northeast of Lemberg, is over with a Russian victory. Austrians retreating. many German prisoners taken. Berlin claims Maubeuge fell with 40,000 French prisoners and four generals captured.
The Silessian landwehr has captured a thousand Russian Imperial guardsmen according to the German embassy. Montenegrin troops occupy key points in Bosnia south of Sarajevo per a Havas dispatch from Rome. The north Albanian country remains in a serious situation.
Copenhagen correspondent reports on September 4, Emperor William telegrammed President Wilson protesting dum-dum bullets and Belgian participation. He said his generals punished Belgians in some cases and expressed regret at the destruction of Louvain and other places.
An official communique from Paris reports German forces on the right side of the line, detailing captures and positions as part of ongoing hostilities.
