Corona Triumphs 10 to 8 Over Anaheim in Sunday Game

Corona beat Anaheim 10 to 8 as the home team built a six-run burst in the fourth inning. MacDonald and Rawley starred with timely hits and strong defense while Hackendorn and Hansen struggled. Six Corona rooters organized a club led by Pierce Ames Murphy Carter Corella and Lawson.

High School 10 Opens Monday with New Courses

The High School will open on Monday September 13 with added teacher Mr Doron and new subjects Mechanical Drawing Commercial Geography and Commercial Arithmetic. The plan lets teens over fourteen who failed eight grades attend a year of study in these branches and broadens access to what some call The Peoples College.

Plans for Streets and Storm Drain Completed

Engineer H. Clay Kellogg finished plans and specifications for street grading and storm drains and will present them to city trustees for approval. If accepted the city council may advertise for bids or set a date to advertise. Kellogg’s team is finalizing sewer system plans to be shown to the council within days.

Good Sport at Corona Tennis Tourney on Admission Day

Admission Day tennis events at Corona Tennis Club on East Seventh and the Boulevard begin at 9 am and run all day. The program features men's doubles, ladies doubles, and mixed doubles with six men's teams listed. Spectators pay 25 cents for grand stand seats as entries include players such as Harry N. Sweet and W. S. Chapman Jr. Ladies entries are numerous though some names are not yet secured.

Hively and Hull completed the sale of the Main Street lot occupied by Swanson's blacksmith shop to Tisnerate Bros of Long Beach. The buyers have not announced plans, but a new building may be planned.

Florida citrus exchange talks end with 4 percent plan

Cincinnati on September 3 details show R P Burton arranging Florida citrus handling in a Morida orange market. A 2 percent rate was rejected by stockholders while Morida firms pushed for 4 percent on fruit for the Florida exchange. Burton will name a salaried representative and sell fruit in car lots, leaving for Louisville.

The Timber Supply of the United States

In Forest Circular 166 the Department of Agriculture explains the U S timber resources ownership and use. It notes private forests dominate with 1 7 hundred billion feet in large holdings and 300 billion in eastern woodlots while public forests hold over 100 million acres of timber and rapid extraction exceeds growth. The report warns the nation uses 250 cubic feet per person annually and may need reform to sustain supply for a larger population.
