Corona high school meets Chaffey Union in a Citrus Belt league second series game tomorrow at 2 30 p m on the high school grounds in Corona. Corona, improved after a week of practice, faces a tougher foe and will charge 25 cents admission with ticket sales aiding expenses.
Paris reports Aristide Briand holding momentous talks after the resignation of the Viviani coalition cabinet. Deputies adjourned with expectations to hear new ministerial names tomorrow as France reshapes its policy amid the German victory and Bulgaria’s entry into the war.

J E Cochrane arrives with conference evangelist Rev W C Graves to lead services in the old fashioned Methodist manner. Pastor J H McCabe invites residents to join and bring unsaved friends for the effort.

The Corona Dollar campaign urges residents to buy home goods to strengthen Corona. Geo Brunmier started the circle by paying for gasoline at Bateman’s then passed to A F Hull, Dr R L Brunson bought meat at Corona Cash Market, and the paper asks readers to report if they hold the dollar by tomorrow afternoon.
United States and Carranza troops are moving westward toward Douglas Arizona as Villa threatens Agua Prieta across the border. Carranzista units travel under American supervision with arms sealed, while U S forces from El Paso Nogales guard the border and a Tenth cavalry squadron covers Naco. Villa reportedly remains about sixty miles from Agua Prieta with his advance guard nearer the town.
Washington October 29. After protests by Representative Curry to Secretary Houston the eight to one soluble solids to citric acid standard set by Dr Carl L Alsberg will be temporarily set aside. No interference with this year's interstate shipments of California oranges regardless of contents except heated sweated or artificially colored fruit will be prevented. Curry is joined by H Edward K Carnes of Sacramento citrus growers. The regulation created last year would have applied to this year's crop if fruit failed to meet the Alsberg standard.
P. J. Whitten received a letter from the Keystone Film Co., Los Angeles, inviting him and friends to witness a staged train wreck in San Bernardino tomorrow morning. Two big locomotives will collide head on at high speed for a motion picture touted as thrilling, drawing locals seeking real excitement to attend.

The M. E. church youth group plans a Hallowe en party next Monday night. Guests meet at 7:30 at the church and will be led by the ghosts to a place of witchery. Attendees are urged to wear old clothes and bring forks if they do not wish to eat pie with their fingers.
The Women's Foreign Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church opened its forty-seventh annual international convention in Los Angeles. Delegates set a goal of $1,000,000 and 1,000 missionaries for foreign service, aiming for 1919 golden jubilee with 400,000 members. The society spends about $1,000,000 yearly and has representatives in India, Burma, Malaya, the Philippines, China, Korea, Japan, Mexico, Bulgaria, and Africa.
Los Angeles officials announced the United States land office opened 7805 acres in the Imperial valley for settlement effective yesterday. Protests accuse Washington of unfair handling as the order arrived with no local publicity. Squatters who filed before 1900 resist displacement while 21 others smile at the upheaval.
