Riverside County Welcomes President Taft October 12

The ceremony features dedicatory tablet rites at Rubidoux, a Santa Monica–style procession with Bishop James Conaty, and a welcome by Riverside schoolchildren. County officer B W Handy told the Independent he has probation cases across the southern part of the state but none in Corona. He noted youths see him as a shield to the reform school and tend to be amenable to discipline.

Two Men With Black Eyes After Livery Alley Altercation

A home telephone lineman named Harvey and Jack Aluf fought briefly at the Main Street Livery this afternoon. The clash left both men with black eyes described as souvenirs of the minor altercation.
