German artillery officers inspecting Liege forts report that battle damage shows bigger weakness in turret armor than in walls. Turrets jammed by shell fragments and the lack of observation posts hinder fire control, making forts vulnerable once locations are known.
The Daily Call reports the German emperor will award the second class of the Order of the Red Eagle to the first German aviator to drop explosives on London. The dispatch describes his fortified chateau near France with sandbags and metal shields, a protective guard, and a full battalion nearby as he moves between front and headquarters.
