City Trustees discussed raising the City Clerk salary and allowing restaurants to serve liquor at meals. The vote on Ordinance No. 119 passed after debate, with two dissents. the measure will be sent to Dead Letter Office.
An ordinance allowing restaurants to sell liquor with meals faced long debate before approval on first reading. Key issues included licensing at 50 dollars monthly, hours from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and possible impacts on saloon licenses. Trustee Holmes dissented. discussion also covered Kelogg Avenue work and a proposed eucalyptus removal and construction on Ramona Street. Adjournment set to Monday for protests on boulevard work. numerous property transfers and easements noted in the record.

District Attorney Lyman Evans bought three-volume Autobiography and Letters of Edward Gibbon from a Los Angeles second hand bookshop. The set, in fine condition with no imprint, dates to 1796 and may have London origins. Evans plans to donate the volumes to the city library. Chas F Lummis criticized the bookseller for selling to another buyer.
Revival meetings are in progress at the Christian church with daily services at 7:80 each evening except Saturday. All are invited to attend and bring friends.
A fragment recalls a creed of fame through philanthropy and aid to the poor and needy in the Rocky Mountain region, urging a benefactor to fund tea and charity.
In Yucaspe valley near Redlands Baird Kellogg and B Talley of Colton have formed a six man pool on a large ore ledge rich in gold silver and copper. A Bullfrog mining man proposed a 65000 dollar smelter for a third interest and the deal will be accepted. Highteen claims merged into the pool. Developments expected soon as the ground floor is secured. Local Chamber of Commerce funds and appointment of a Los Angeles organizer are under discussion with Redlands and Riverside considering joint or separate action.
The Redlands Board of Trade diet Tuesday afternoon to boost tourist traffic from Los Angeles with eight and two day rail tickets and a new display at the California Tourists Bureau. Officials plan a first class representative to engage travelers and distribute Redlands literature at railroad offices and local ticket counters.
Local notes report fumigation of the school building during vacation by Company F Larrabee and a plan to erect another employee cottage at the head of Main Street. The Odrona vault contract is let to Enos and Brockman, with a temporary safe to accelerate bank operations. W L Lyman and daughter arrive from Los Angeles with half interest in Eagle Stables. Henry Gansner of Riverside works on two large wells for E L Hazard near the Pacific Clay works with a sixty horsepower pump. Hazard intends a pumping station to supply holdings southwest of town while smaller plants at Tenth street and farther up lift the remaining water distance. A Superior Court petition by W S Twogood and Mrs Lydia Alderman seeks letters testamentary for Erwin B Alderman died 1906. The Corona estate valued at 11023.86 leaves the widow the property, with one sixth to five children or their descendants. The other sixth funds Genevieve Alderman Twogood memory to aid a poor orphan, controlled by trustee Twogood.
The Riverside county clerk forwarded to the State Agricultural Society a compiled county statistics report. It notes 3,389,426 fruit trees with 78,200 non bearing, four creameries, seven skim milking stations, a municipal electric light plant valued at 125000, four brick yards, a cigar factory, a flouring mill, a lime kiln, three tanneries, three olive oil factories, two sewer pipe factories, two planing mills, two potteries, two artificial stone quarries, one granite quarry and one tile quarry.
Perris valley harvest shows higher yields with barley 129,597 sacks value 209,044 and wheat 116,405 sacks value 260,940. Total 246,002 sacks worth 469,984 across Perris and Menifee valleys. Hay 11,963 tons from 13,413 acres valued at 119,680. Overall strong profits boost ranchers' finances.
