Autumn Festival a Huge Success at Local Club
Saturday night festivities at the Woman's Improvement Club closed the Autumn Festival with a gala program. Riverside performers Misses Sawyer presented folk dancing, Miss Eugenia Oliver directed tableaux featuring Mrs. Geo. M. Blair as the Rock of Ages and Goddess of Liberty, Eloise Archer as the Dutch Girl, and Marguerite Reid led The Seven Ages of Woman. Prof. Carl C. Barry and the Hilverkus orchestra provided music while booths and fishponds reported brisk sales as the event concluded.

A twenty five car Standard Oil train travels eastward from Richmond toward New York under armed guard to meet urgent war orders before the Panama Canal reopens. Each car holds 30,000 gallons of petrol, with a daily return service planned on the Santa Fe system. Passes Away Suddenly H C Boyd In Corona
Corona resident H C Boyd died suddenly before noon at his home 806 Sheridan Street. Heart trouble caused his death after a week of illness. He ran the City Nursery for years and was active in the Methodist Episcopal church. Survived by his wife two nieces and a nephew. Funeral plans to be announced in tomorrow's issue. Remains turned over to Undertaker S C Hoover for burial preparations.

Young Man Wounded by Accidental Gun Discharge at Rock Plant
Carl Mack, a steam shovel fireman at Pemescal Rock plant in Corona Canyon, was seriously injured when his loaded pistol discharged while he kissed his wife. The bullet entered the left chest area and lodged behind the shoulder. He was taken to Mr. Sloan's quarters then to Fred Baird's home for care. doctors probed for the bullet and reported a serious but survivable injury.

Obregon Ignores Villa Attack in Cananea Final Assault
Dispatches from Gen. Dieguez report Villa halted near Alamito twenty miles north of Normosillo after repulse, with losses of about 150 killed for Dieguez and 100 killed and 1000 wounded or captured for Villa. Obregon says he began attacking Cananea early today, fearing damage to American mining property and smelters as artillery enters play amid skirmishing.
