El Paso reports a military bulletin from Guadalajara stating four Catholic priests were executed by order of General Amara the military governor of Michoacan. The notice claims clericals are behind a new uprising though no specific perpetrators are named.
Two thousand Carranza followers mainly soldiers surrender to Villa as he captures León and nearby garrisons. With Villa advancing toward Mexico City the constitutional rank and file tilt to him, reducing fighting. Washington brokers expect Villa to reach the capital with minimal resistance, save for a possible clash with Obregon or Gonzales near Mexico City.
Dr. Robert J. Burdette, famed minister and lecturer, died at his Pasadena home at 2 p.m. after nearly two years of illness. He had slipped into unconsciousness last Friday and never recovered. Burdette began his career at the Peoria Transcript about forty years ago and was known for his humor. He believed there was as much fun in the world today, saying more people make it funnier on this side of the grave.
Crowds fill the Corona speedway as thirteen race cars including Dusenbergs Mercers Stutz Sunbeams Marmons and a Peugeot run laps at record pace. Ed Rickenbacher in the Peugeot clocks the fastest lap while Greer Pullen on a Mercer shows top speed. Officials predict record crowds near 125000 with rooms and board in high demand ahead of Thanksgiving Day race.
Washington reports that extensive European war maps help American officers study Belgian and French front lines and terrain. The Progressive Military Map program has operated fifteen years to build domestic maps, though full coverage would be costly. The effort trains officers in map making and may guide future wartime operations.
In Petrograd reports the German Vistula advance is seen as a feint to lure Russia from Cracow and relieve East Prussia. Russian generals guard against traps while maintaining vigilance. Also noted, Bartlett pear trees on the P. R. Cox farm in Glenn County yielded 30 pounds per tree on the Sacramento Valley Irrigation project.
Local Modern Woodmen of America members will see a film at La Corona theater about a tubercular patient’s recovery at the Woodmen sanatorium in Colorado Springs. The movie follows Robert Wilson’s treatment and cure to promote the lodge’s free medical aid and the sanatorium’s work.
A powerful Santa Ana wind-driven forest fire from Wheeler's Canyon swept into Lion canyon oil fields near Oxnard California. H Dunham an oil company official died fighting the blaze the sole casualty reported as Henderson well and other properties caught alight. Fire crews from the district battled the flames as the inferno spread through the oil field.

Riverside county supervisor Fla herty reports Pacific Electric has cut four or five Magnolia avenue pepper trees three miles east of Corona in apparent violation of a 40 foot right of way. He moves to stop further tree destruction and favors avoiding loss of Magnolia avenue’s beauty if a wider strip is needed.
A forest blaze on the Santa Ana range produced a heavy black smoke across the western slope. Fire risk to the eastern side remains low, with limited spread expected unless strong winds drive flames downslope.
Paris reports increased artillery activity along the north front between the seacoast and the Lys River but no infantry attacks. German efforts to seize Thrace La Val failed after heavy losses. Unofficial news says British and French forces breached German lines near Schoorbakke and captured two roads with armored cars while French sailors crossed by raft.
German aviation squadron clashed with enemy aviators during a reconnoitering mission. German marksmen forced the English pilots to descend with one English aircraft reportedly missing. In the Argonne, French attacks on the western slopes were repulsed with heavy enemy losses and German casualties were small.
Charles Hoss and T B June build a solid block grandstand on East Boulevard from Fourth to Fifth streets. About 2000 seats with backrests and 36 inch spacing, reinforced for safety. A center scoreboard near the high school shows lap times and pit status, with free auto parking and police watch for ticket holders.
