Chicago May 20 The American Garment Manufacturers Association opens with representatives from about 300 firms to set standard colors amid a European dye shortage. The meeting will tackle the issue as well as raw material scarcities. Galbraith Miller Jr of Milwaukee is association president. Red Cross reports note thousands of soldiers in Europe poisoned by inferior dyes used in troop clothing.

Western states conference on alfalfa weevil quarantine changes

Entomologists from seven western states met in Salt Lake City to discuss quarantine rules for alfalfa weevil. They will urge their state governments to limit the quarantine to hay shipments while allowing other produce from Utah and Wyoming.
