A Los Angeles man, P. B. Van Outen, is fatally hurt after his car struck a telephone pole near Colton avenue between Riverside and Box Springs grade on a return trip from Elsinore. His son H. P. Van Outen and William Boardman of Monrovia were bruised. Scott R. Hogan and Robert Bain of Riverside sustained injuries. The accident occurred when the steering knuckle broke, sending the vehicle off the left side and through the windshield.
