Improvements in Fruit Handling at Local Packing House
Through courtesy of R L Willits general manager of W H Jameson's fruit packing house an Independent representative toured the plant. The house serves 400 acres of lemons and oranges and uses 15 to 30 workers for washing sorting and packing. A new washer and setting table supervised by Willits boosts efficiency and the labor saving trucks and a new press improve operations. Eight packers two men and six women work quickly and faithfully as cars of fruit move toward shipment. Willits praised by colleagues for his effective work in the Queen Colony Fruit Exchange system and the watchword is efficiency.
