C P Baker a driller for Temescal Rock Co. at Hoag's canyon quarry was badly hurt this morning around 9 o'clock when a rock slide buried him. He suffered a broken collar bone shoulder blade and two ribs and was rushed from Corona to the county hospital for treatment. He is a single man living at the quarry and a Corona resident for several months.

Balloon misidentified as aeroplane over city
Residents including O H Barber vouched for an illuminated aeroplane seen Monday night. At about 9 pm Mayor B J Gene reeux released a ten foot paper balloon from Palm Avenue. The balloon rose to 3000 feet and drifted over Eleventh Street toward the northwest before being tracked toward Prado Beach by the mayor and companions.
